Ormitech can undertake small to medium sized power conversion projects. Ormitech started trading in 2002, previously I was the design engineer at Alfatronix, adding various products to the range. |

I have a varied experience in dc-dc and ac-dc converters, covering the entire electronic design of the product, from prototype circuit and transformer/inductor winding, through pcb design and prototype building to compliance with emc and electrical safety regulations. Many of the products designed at or for Alfatronix are listed in the Farnell catalogue. I continued to work for Alfatronix until 2006 when the firm agreed to 'take ownership' of the circuits. I also have experience of higher frequency design, including a 270 watt dc-dc converter running at 250kHz. This used a master/slave approach to the control circuit, allowing one magnetics design and component set to be used for more than one power rating. Adjusting the design to minimise emissions was a major aspect of the development of this product. 12 to 24V step-up converters with 90% efficiency were another Ormitech development, enabling the manufacturer to offer the product in similar size housings to the step-down product. PCB design is part of the service but is available by itself, see the pcb page! |
